Job Description
The Veterinary Officer will support livestock health programs through disease surveillance, diagnosis, treatment, and farmer education. The role contributes to animal welfare, food security, and public health by ensuring effective veterinary services and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain livestock medical records and disease monitoring data
- Advise on zoonotic disease prevention and control measures
- Liaise with government veterinary departments and regulatory bodies
- Conduct farmer education and community outreach programs
- Ensure compliance with veterinary and animal welfare regulations
- Support disease surveillance and herd health management
Requirements
- Degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) or equivalent qualification
- Valid registration with the relevant Veterinary Board or Council
- Minimum 2 years' post-qualification veterinary experience
- Experience in disease surveillance and herd health management
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Valid driving licence and willingness to work in remote areas
