Manager, Mineral Exploration

National Mining Corporation (NMC) is a leading corporation focused on sustainable mineral resources development and investment in Africa and beyond. Its core mission is to collaborate with stakeholders to invest in mining and mineral resources for Kenya's socioeconomic prosperity. NMC operates under the mandate of the Mining Act, 2016, and Mining (State Participation) Regulations, 2017.

The Manager, Mineral Exploration is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of mineral exploration programs. This includes designing and managing field-based exploration, reviewing research and performance of contractors, executing exploratory drilling, and identifying growth opportunities for profitable mineral extraction. The role also involves ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, providing leadership to the division, and fostering staff capacity building.

1. Design and manage diverse field-based exploration programs.
2. Review research proposals and reports on geological investigations and mineral exploration.
3. Review the performance of geological contractors and consultants.
4. Design and execute exploratory drilling to extract subsurface rock cores for sampling, analysis, and 3D modeling of ore bodies to estimate grade and tonnage.
5. Conduct studies and identify growth opportunities to determine the viability of mineral prospects for profitable extraction.
6. Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards, including personal protective equipment.
7. Provide overall leadership for the Division.
8. Ensure continuous capacity building, coaching, and mentorship of Division staff.
9. Develop growth strategy planning for mines.
10. Evaluate performance and productivity.
11. Perform any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the CEO.

1. Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
2. Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Environmental Geology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
3. At least ten (10) years of work experience, with five (5) years in a management role.
4. Completion of a management/leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
5. Registered by the Geologist Registration Board (GRB) and in good standing.
6. Proficiency in computer applications.
7. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
