Tax Accountant

Express Shipping & Logistics (EA) Ltd (ESL) is a logistics and supply chain company founded in 2001 and based in Mombasa, Kenya.

The role of the Tax Accountant involves a deep understanding of tax regulations, laws, and acts to effectively manage fiscal matters. This position requires the preparation, submission, and management of all tax statements and returns, alongside offering expert advice on financial and tax-related issues. The accountant will also be responsible for identifying tax optimization opportunities and recommending strategies to enhance cash flow and profitability for the business.

1. Develop and maintain tax provision schedules, data collection systems, and the corporate tax database.
2. Ensure all relevant taxes are filed and paid accurately and on time.
3. Guarantee compliance with all tax regulations and requirements.
4. Communicate with tax authorities regarding tax payment issues.
5. Identify tax optimization strategies and propose methods to improve cash flow and profits.
6. Evaluate tax regulations and suggest appropriate company policies.
7. Stay informed about current local and international tax trends and regulations.
8. Provide support and services on business operation matters.
9. Recommend tax advisory services and strategies aligned with business objectives.
10. Liaise with various tax authorities, consultants, and experts, offering tax-related support including training.
11. Advise management on the implications of new laws on tax liabilities.
12. Implement appropriate systems and processes for tax risk management.
13. Prepare comprehensive tax reports, including calculations, project tax analysis, estimates, provisions, and forecasts.
14. Perform any other duties as assigned by management.

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
2. CPA, ACCA, or KESRA training is an added advantage.
3. Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Tax Accountant, Auditor, Consultant, or in a similar role.
4. Proficient in technology and tech-savvy.
5. In-depth knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes.
6. Strong attention to detail.
7. Excellent analytical capabilities.
8. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
