Job Description
This role at Glovo involves driving the strategy and execution of the Q-Commerce business in Kenya. The Q-Commerce division focuses on multi-category deliveries, including groceries, electronics, flowers, and medicine, aiming to build the largest marketplace in the city. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering strong relationships with partners, expanding the darkstore network, and building and retaining a high-performing local team to achieve the company's vision of providing access to anything within minutes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the profit and loss (P&L) for Q-Commerce business units, including groceries, retail, and darkstores.
- Develop and implement medium to long-term strategies to achieve growth and profitability targets for the country.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key retail and grocery partners in the region.
- Lead the commercial team in onboarding new partners and guide the account management team to ensure active partners grow their business on the platform.
- Establish sustainable economic partnerships with collaborators, renegotiating contracts as needed.
- Expand the darkstore network in a sustainable and efficient manner.
- Enhance the operational efficiency of both partners and darkstores to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
- Gather feedback from partners and collaborate with internal teams to translate insights into product, marketing, and operational improvements.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Over 6 years of experience in fast-paced environments such as FMCG, retail, startups, top consulting firms, or leading internet companies.
- Proven experience in managing a full profit and loss (P&L) statement.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders across various departments.
- A strong drive to build a business from the ground up, with a natural bias for action, objective orientation, and adherence to deadlines.
- Capability to recruit, manage, and retain a high-performing team.
- Understanding of the retail business, including revenue dynamics and key drivers.
- Skilled in negotiation to secure advantageous deals with major retail players.
- A data-driven mindset, making decisions based on data while exercising sound business judgment when necessary.
- Ability to devise smart and effective solutions for complex, multi-disciplinary challenges.
