Procurement Officer

Jambojet is a Kenyan low-cost airline that operates in the aviation industry, providing affordable air travel services.

This role involves overseeing all procurement and supply chain activities for Jambojet, ensuring adherence to the company's Procure-to-Pay policy and strategic objectives. The officer will manage sourcing, supplier and contract management, and transactional processes, while also identifying and resolving workflow bottlenecks through lean procurement practices and digital automation. Key aspects include conducting comprehensive procurement and contracting, monitoring supplier agreements, evaluating quotations, and developing mechanisms to track cost savings and efficiency. The role requires proactive engagement with suppliers for negotiations and fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders.

1. Administer procurement and supply chain activities according to Jambojet’s Procure-to-Pay policy to meet organizational needs.
2. Manage all procurement activities, including sourcing, supplier and contract management, and transactional processes, ensuring strict compliance with company policies.
3. Conduct comprehensive procurement and contracting activities, covering pre-qualification, tender management, negotiation, and contract preparation.
4. Monitor and maintain key supplier agreements, tracking key performance indicators such as procurement cycle times and supplier SLA compliance.
5. Identify bottlenecks in the Procure-to-Pay workflow and collaborate with the Procurement & Process Improvement Manager to deploy lean procurement practices and digital automation.
6. Evaluate and report on supplier quotations and participate in the development and assessment of tender documents.
7. Ensure all contracts are comprehensive and protective of Jambojet’s interests, aligning with company policies and legal standards to mitigate risks.
8. Develop and implement reporting and monitoring mechanisms to identify and track cost savings and procurement efficiency.
9. Engage proactively with suppliers to negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and contractual conditions.
10. Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, providing support and training on procurement systems and processes.
11. Ensure the availability of adequate supply contracts for regularly used items to achieve maximum cost-effectiveness.
12. Maintain comprehensive and traceable records of all procurement activities, including correspondence and documentation.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Purchasing and Supply Chain Management or a related field from a recognized university.
2. At least 3 years of experience in procurement and administration within a fast-paced organization.
3. Proficiency in procurement and supply chain management processes within a corporate setting.
4. Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently and drive process improvements.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, essential for liaising with suppliers, internal departments, and service providers.
6. Familiarity with procurement systems (like Oracle IProc), corporate contract management, and relevant supply chain regulations.
7. Capability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, addressing procurement challenges.
8. Ability to balance cost-effectiveness and efficiency in procurement processes.
9. Relevant industry certifications are required.
10. Membership to professional bodies is an added advantage.
