IT & Systems Engineer (NetSuite)

The IT & Systems Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise system solutions that are scalable and support business operations across the organization. This involves focusing on system design, application development, and database architecture to create well-engineered customizations, integrations, and automated workflows. The goal is to improve data integrity, system performance, and overall operational efficiency. The engineer will collaborate closely with system administrators, other developers, and business stakeholders to deliver system enhancements that are scalable, secure, and well-governed. Prior exposure to ERP platforms like NetSuite and an understanding of financial or accounting processes are considered advantageous for this position.

1. Design and develop scalable system architecture and technical solutions for core business processes.
2. Create and maintain custom applications and system extensions using JavaScript (ES5/ES6), with Python, Java, or other languages as an advantage, including event-driven scripts, client-side logic, API endpoints, and scheduled jobs.
3. Develop and maintain custom records, forms, fields, and workflow automations.
4. Build scripting and automation solutions to streamline business workflows, improve data accuracy, and increase process efficiency across enterprise platforms.
5. Troubleshoot system issues, script errors, and performance bottlenecks.
6. Ensure system changes adhere to development standards and architectural best practices, and maintain structured documentation for scripts and customizations.
7. Extend system functionality to support other operational units like procurement, inventory, billing, and operations.
8. Design and develop integrations between core systems and external platforms (e.g., CRM, billing, payment gateways) using REST/SOAP APIs and middleware.
9. Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and data models to support application performance and data integrity.
10. Build logic for data transformation, validation, and synchronization across systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
11. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and saved searches for business and operational reporting, optimizing structures and data extraction.
12. Support business teams during critical operational cycles requiring system enhancements or troubleshooting.
13. Ensure system enhancements comply with security, controls, and governance standards.
14. Participate in system audits, testing, and compliance activities, maintaining version control and testing practices.
15. Collaborate with business stakeholders, system administrators, and developers to translate functional requirements into well-architected technical solutions.
16. Provide technical guidance to stakeholders on system capabilities and improvements.
17. Identify and implement opportunities for automating business workflows and improving operational efficiency through system enhancements.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems/software engineering, application development, or a related technical role.
3. Strong experience with system design and software architecture, including designing scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions.
4. Proficiency in JavaScript (ES5/ES6) as the primary development language, with experience in Python, Java, or other languages being an advantage.
5. Strong database design and SQL skills, including data modeling, schema design, query optimization, and working with structured datasets.
6. Experience designing and implementing REST and SOAP API integrations between systems and external platforms.
7. Experience debugging, testing, and optimizing application or script performance in enterprise systems.
8. Experience in development and customization of system workflows, including automation of business processes.
9. Experience creating and maintaining custom records, fields, forms, and reporting customizations within business systems.
10. Experience integrating enterprise platforms such as CRM systems, billing systems, or other operational systems.
11. Understanding of system audit trails, security, and governance practices within enterprise systems.
12. Preferred/Advantage: Certification in software architecture, system design, or a cloud platform (e.g., AWS, Azure).
13. Preferred/Advantage: Database certification (e.g., Microsoft/Oracle SQL).
14. Good to have: Strong understanding of financial systems and accounting processes (General Ledger, AP, AR, billing, revenue recognition).
15. Good to have: Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliation, and financial data integrity processes.
16. Nice to have: Experience working with NetSuite or another ERP platform, including customization, scripting, and integration development.
17. Nice to have: NetSuite SuiteCloud Developer or NetSuite ERP Consultant Certification.
18. Good to have: Accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent).
