Internship Description
The programme offers comprehensive training in talent acquisition, employee relations, HR operations, performance management, learning and development, HR analytics, compliance, and people strategy. Successful trainees will have the opportunity to transition into permanent supervisory and management roles based on performance.
What You Will Do
- Support end-to-end recruitment processes, including job advertisement, CV screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
- Coordinate onboarding programmes and induction activities for newly hired employees.
- Prepare employment documentation, contracts, employee records, and onboarding materials.
- Ensure a positive onboarding experience by working closely with hiring managers and new employees.
- Assist in planning and implementing employee engagement initiatives and wellness programmes.
- Support employee relations matters, disciplinary processes, grievance handling, and workplace conflict resolution.
- Respond to employee HR queries while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Promote an employee-focused culture aligned with organizational values.
- Update and maintain employee information within the Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- Administer employee files, attendance records, leave management, contracts, and HR documentation.
- Prepare HR reports using accurate employee data and workforce metrics.
- Support payroll administration and statutory compliance processes.
- Assist in employee benefits administration and HR compliance documentation.
- Coordinate employee training programmes, workshops, seminars, and learning initiatives.
- Support administration of performance management cycles, performance reviews, and appraisal processes.
- Maintain employee learning records and monitor development plans.
- Assist in implementing initiatives that improve employee capability and organizational performance.
- Prepare HR reports covering headcount, workforce analytics, absenteeism, turnover, leave balances, and recruitment metrics.
- Support compliance with Kenyan labour laws and statutory requirements, including PAYE, NSSF, SHA/SHIF, and other employment regulations.
- Assist in reviewing HR policies, procedures, and internal communications.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and security of employee information at all times.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum Second Class Upper Division or equivalent academic qualification.
- Graduated within the last one (1) to three (3) years.
- Progress towards IHRM (Kenya) Membership, Diploma, or equivalent HR professional certification is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of Kenyan Labour Laws and HR best practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Exposure to Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) is an added advantage.
- Basic HR reporting, analytics, documentation, and records management skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and relationship management skills.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
