Job Description

The Equipment Operator is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure operational environment, strictly adhering to industry regulations and company policies. Key duties include the safe and efficient operation of various ground support equipment (GSE) for customer airlines, ensuring full compliance with all operational procedures and safety practices. This encompasses providing high-quality customer service, managing passenger arrivals, departures, and transfers, and strategically planning bus deployments to meet on-time performance targets and minimize passenger waiting times. The operator is also tasked with monitoring bus serviceability, ensuring their proper usage and cleanliness, conducting daily pre-operational checks, and promptly reporting any non-compliance. Furthermore, the role requires ensuring the security and safety of passengers while they are in the bus.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Promote and maintain a positive safety culture and secure working environment in compliance with company and industry standards.
  2. Identify and report hazards, near misses, incidents, and accidents, and participate in mitigation briefings.
  3. Deliver efficient and high-quality customer service to customer airlines at all touch points, adhering to Service Level Agreements and company policies.
  4. Facilitate smooth and effective arrival, departure, and transfer processes for passengers at JKIA.
  5. Plan for safe and secure deployment of buses based on arrival and departure requirements to achieve on-time performance and minimize passenger waiting times.
  6. Monitor the serviceability of operational buses and activate fall-back plans if necessary.
  7. Ensure buses are used exclusively for their intended purpose.
  8. Operate all buses safely on the ramp, adhering to company standard procedures.
  9. Report any non-compliance to the line manager for corrective action.
  10. Perform daily checklists to confirm bus serviceability.
  11. Maintain the cleanliness of all buses.
  12. Conduct standard checks for articles left behind by guests and follow reporting mechanisms.
  13. Ensure pre-recorded announcements are available and used appropriately in each bus.
  14. Transport passengers to legally agreed drop-off or pick-up points within the airport.
  15. Park buses in designated areas to prevent accidents and injuries.
  16. Contribute to the development of KQ's product portfolio to meet service standards for third-party and customer airlines.
  17. Adhere to corporate uniform guidelines and grooming standards.
  18. Be responsible for the security and safety of passengers and the bus itself.
  19. Follow KQ WAY principles and best practices.

Requirements

  1. Possess a relevant Certificate or Diploma.
  2. Achieved a minimum of "O" level Grade D+.
  3. Hold a valid driving license with categories ABCDE.
  4. Must be endorsed for class G by NTSA.
  5. Have a Ground handling equipment certificate.
  6. Completed Equipment operator training (Level I – Tractor / Pallet mover; Level II – All GSE Except Pushback and Level III – All GSE).
  7. Possess a Radio telephonic certificate (Level-III only).
  8. Demonstrate proficiency in Airside Driving.
  9. Have Airside Safety Awareness.
  10. Possess Aviation Security Awareness.
  11. Certified in Dangerous Goods CAT
  12. Have Safety Management System (SMS) Awareness.
  13. Proficient in operating ramp equipment, including the pushback.
  14. Customer-focused with high integrity.
  15. A team player, self-motivated, and time-conscious.
