Job Description
The Senior Underwriter will be a key member of the Corporate & Commercial Lines department, responsible for ensuring that all selected risks align with Sanlam Allianz’s established underwriting guidelines. This role involves accurately processing premiums within the designated underwriting system and efficiently issuing policy documents, adhering to set benchmarks. A crucial aspect of the position is actively contributing to business retention efforts and cultivating robust relationships with channel partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Select risks in accordance with Sanlam Allianz’s underwriting guidelines.
- Accurately process premiums using the underwriting system.
- Issue policy documents within established benchmarks.
- Actively support business retention initiatives.
- Strengthen relationships with channel partners.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance or a relevant business field.
- Possess ACII/IIK qualification.
- Have 5 to 8+ years of progressive experience in underwriting or reinsurance within general insurance, with a proven track record in handling complex, large-value accounts.
- Demonstrate strong product and market knowledge, coupled with a solid understanding of regulatory compliance.
- Exhibit advanced risk assessment, analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Possess high attention to detail, sound decision-making capabilities, and excellent relationship management skills.
