Job Description

This role involves managing the daily operations of the store, guiding a team of Retail Associates, and meeting sales targets for both individuals and the store. The supervisor will also be responsible for inventory management, driving marketing efforts, and business development. Key aspects include maintaining efficient stock control, offering leadership and performance guidance, and ensuring high customer satisfaction. Additionally, the role focuses on expanding business-to-business partnerships and implementing strategies to foster store growth.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Achieve individual and support team in achieving collective monthly sales targets.
  2. Guide, motivate, and support team members to enhance sales performance.
  3. Monitor sales trends and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  4. Implement strategies to maximize both in-store and online sales.
  5. Provide leadership and support to Retail Associates, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  6. Conduct monthly performance reviews for all team members.
  7. Onboard and train new employees on company policies, procedures, expectations, and product knowledge.
  8. Serve as the primary contact for resolving staff concerns and operational challenges.
  9. Facilitate monthly one-on-one check-ins and development planning with team members.
  10. Oversee stock control processes, including receiving and accurately recording new inventory.
  11. Supervise monthly stock-taking of products from Kenyan vendors and general merchandise.
  12. Monitor inventory levels and ensure accurate records for both in-store and e-commerce platforms.
  13. Coordinate restocking efforts and collaborate with central inventory teams as required.
  14. Prepare and submit detailed monthly reports, including weekly sales summaries, campaign performance, inventory movement, staff progress, and strategic recommendations.
  15. Record stock updates from Kenyan authors and vendors.
  16. Create content such as quotes for bookmarks and branded materials.
  17. Communicate and follow up on store maintenance, repairs, or restocking of basic store supplies.
  18. Identify marketing opportunities specific to the store’s location and target audience.
  19. Lead the planning and execution of in-store campaigns and seasonal promotions.
  20. Collaborate with the marketing department to promote campaigns across relevant platforms.
  21. Monitor customer engagement and gather feedback for campaign improvement.
  22. Develop and maintain relationships with schools, institutions, and other potential B2B clients.
  23. Identify new B2B opportunities and support the implementation of outreach strategies.
  24. Track and report on B2B interactions and sales performance.

Requirements

  1. Hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field.
  2. Possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or team lead role within a retail or similar environment.
  3. Be proficient in using POS systems, inventory management tools, and basic reporting software.
  4. Demonstrate strong leadership and team management skills.
  5. Exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
  6. Possess an analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
  7. Be capable of multitasking, organizing, and prioritizing workload effectively.
  8. Have a strong customer service orientation and conflict resolution skills.
  9. Show initiative, dependability, and problem-solving capabilities.
  10. Display creativity and familiarity with store merchandising and branding.
  11. Be available to work weekends and public holidays as scheduled.
  12. Be prepared for occasional local travel for marketing events or B2B engagement.
  13. Be physically able to stand for extended periods and assist with light stock movement when necessary.
