Job Description
The ICT Technician at Outspan Hospital will be responsible for the daily management of IT systems, providing essential first-level technical support, and ensuring the continuous availability, security, and efficiency of the hospital's entire ICT infrastructure. This critical role supports uninterrupted clinical and administrative operations by promptly resolving IT incidents, performing regular system maintenance, and safeguarding sensitive data. The technician will play a key part in maintaining the hospital's operational continuity through rapid issue resolution and proactive system management.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide first-level technical support, resolving issues related to PCs, software, and clinical peripherals like barcode scanners and medical printers, utilizing ticketing systems such as Jira/ServiceDesk and prioritizing tickets based on clinical urgency.
- Administer and support Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS), ERP software, and manage Active Directory permissions.
- Maintain LAN/WAN connectivity, switches, and access points, and conduct scheduled preventive maintenance on hardware and server room equipment.
- Implement and enforce endpoint security measures, including antivirus and firewalls, ensuring compliance with data protection laws to safeguard confidential Patient Health Information (PHI).
- Perform routine system backups, maintain accurate IT asset inventories, coordinate escalations with vendors, and respond promptly to emergency outages.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or an equivalent field (a Degree is preferred).
- 1–2 years of experience in ICT support or systems administration, with a preference for experience within a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency with ticketing tools, Active Directory, basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, cabling), HMIS/ERP systems, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
- Certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), or ITIL Foundation are considered an advantage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to clearly and patiently communicate technical guidance to non-technical medical personnel.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities for quickly resolving hardware, software, and network faults.
- High degree of integrity required for handling sensitive medical data and proprietary institutional information.
- Capability to work effectively and calmly under pressure during network outages or critical clinical system downtime.
- Strong time-management skills to effectively balance ticket queues, routine maintenance, and urgent emergency requests.
- Ability to collaborate seamlessly within the ICT team and across various administrative and clinical departments.
