Security Officer

The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all employees, visitors, products, raw materials, assets, and sensitive information. This involves rigorously controlling access to the premises, performing regular patrols, utilizing surveillance systems for monitoring, preventing losses, and effectively responding to any emergency situations. The officer must also maintain precise records of all security activities and promptly escalate any incidents that occur.

1. Manage the entry and exit of employees, visitors, contractors, and vehicles according to established procedures.
2. Verify identification, visitor authorizations, gate passes, delivery documents, and vehicle movement records.
3. Conduct lawful and respectful searches of individuals, bags, vehicles, and consignments in line with company policy.
4. Issue and track visitor badges, keys, radios, and other controlled security items.
5. Perform scheduled and random patrols of the perimeter, production areas, warehouses, dispatch points, offices, and other vulnerable locations.
6. Monitor CCTV, alarm systems, and other assigned security equipment, reporting any irregularities immediately.
7. Identify and report instances of theft, suspicious activities, tampering, unsafe practices, and breaches of food defense or biosecurity protocols.
8. Maintain accurate records including occurrence books, patrol logs, key registers, visitor registers, vehicle registers, and incident reports.
9. Verify incoming and outgoing goods, seals, dispatch notes, and gate passes, escalating any discrepancies found.
10. Respond promptly to alarms, fire incidents, medical emergencies, or security breaches, and assist with emergency procedures and evacuations.

1. Possess a KCSE certificate or an equivalent qualification.
2. Strong understanding of access control, patrol techniques, CCTV operation, incident reporting, and emergency response procedures.
3. Basic computer literacy and the ability to produce clear written reports.
4. Demonstrate high integrity and trustworthiness.
5. Exhibit vigilance and keen attention to detail.
6. Exercise sound judgment and ensure timely escalation of issues.
7. Possess good communication skills, a customer-oriented approach, and maintain confidentiality.
8. Capable of teamwork, reliability, and working various shifts.
9. A certificate in security management, criminology, investigations, fire safety, or first aid is an advantage.
10. Valid registration, training, and compliance with applicable private security laws and regulations are required.
11. At least 2 years of relevant security experience, preferably in FMCG, manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, agriculture, or a high-volume distribution environment.
12. A valid driving license is an added advantage.
