Voter Educator

This role involves educating voters in a specific ward where a by-election is taking place. The successful candidate must be a resident of that ward and proficient in the main local language. Applicants should hold a diploma or higher in a relevant field such as Social Sciences or Project Management, coupled with a minimum of 3 years of experience in voter education, community mobilization, or social work within the designated electoral unit. Key attributes include maturity, respectability, and non-partisanship, along with an exceptional understanding of local civil society organizations, geography, and the socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics of the ward. Candidates must provide proof of successfully conducting voter education or informal training activities in collaboration with existing social networks within the electoral unit. A demonstrable interest in electoral processes and a proven commitment to patriotism, nation-building, good governance, democracy, human rights, and gender equity are essential. The position requires exclusive commitment during the contract period, prohibiting other employment, and demands working knowledge of computers, social media, and digital platforms, alongside proven report writing skills.

1. Distribute and disseminate voter education materials in various community locations, including schools, churches, mosques, health centers, markets, community centers, farms, and business centers.
2. Liaise with local stakeholders, relevant authorities, and community leaders to facilitate voter education activities.
3. Conduct comprehensive voter education within the County Assembly Ward.
4. Act as a vital link between the IEBC Returning Officer, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), and the community.
5. Assess the public's understanding of matters related to the ongoing electoral activity in the ward.
6. Monitor and evaluate the performance of voter education providers within the ward.
7. Prepare and submit weekly activity reports to the immediate supervisor.
8. Undertake any other assignments as directed by the immediate supervisor.

1. Must be a resident of the Ward where the by-election is taking place.
2. Must be a speaker of the main language of communication used by residents of the electoral unit.
3. Possess a diploma or above in a relevant field, such as Social Sciences or Project Management.
4. Minimum of 3 years of experience in voter education, community mobilization, or social work within the respective by-election electoral unit.
5. Must be mature, respectable, and non-partisan, demonstrating exceptional understanding and knowledge of civil society organizations, geography, and the socio-cultural, economic, and political dynamics of the Ward.
6. Provide proof of having successfully conducted voter education activities or informal training in collaboration with existing social networks within the Electoral unit.
7. Demonstrate a clear interest in electoral processes.
8. Possess a proven commitment to the values of patriotism, nation-building, good governance, democracy, human rights, and gender equity.
9. Must NOT be engaged in any other job during the contract period and must commit to working exclusively for the IEBC under the stipulated terms and conditions of service.
10. Possess working knowledge of computers, social media, and digital platforms.
11. Demonstrate proven report writing skills.
