Origination Coordinator

Cargill Ag and Trading in Kenya is involved in the origination and sale of grains and oilseeds including maize, wheat, soybeans, and soybean meal, among others, within Kenya and the wider East Africa.

Cargill Ag and Trading in Kenya focuses on sourcing and selling grains and oilseeds, including maize, wheat, soybeans, and soybean meal, across Kenya and East Africa. The Origination Coordinator is responsible for managing a diverse supplier base and executing transactions to procure commodities that align with production needs regarding timing, volume, quality, and cost. This position involves engaging in the purchase and sale of commodities with various stakeholders such as country elevators, producers, feed mills, and processors.

1. Collaborate with transportation, logistics, quality assurance, customer management, and finance teams to ensure efficient operational execution.
2. Strategically plan purchases and transportation to optimize the profitable utilization of stock and storage facilities.
3. Work with transport and logistics to analyze various freight opportunities in the market to maximize profit margins.
4. Directly engage with customers, suppliers, and business partners to address their needs, resolve routine issues, and handle complaints.
5. Input routine data and generate specialized reports from contract management databases and systems.
6. Accurately process sales and purchase contracts into the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for multiple operational sites.
7. Investigate and resolve ambiguities in contracts by liaising with relevant departments to find solutions.
8. Process amendments to sales and purchase contracts within the system, based on input from sales, trade, and supply chain teams, after assessing potential impacts.
9. Support merchandising efforts by aligning on intercompany sales and purchase books.
10. Independently resolve moderately complex issues with minimal oversight, escalating more intricate problems to senior staff.
11. Perform other assigned duties as required.

1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Sales, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Commerce, or a related academic field.
2. Possess a minimum of four years of relevant professional experience.
3. Demonstrate proficiency in data analytics and AI literacy.
4. Be flexible to work outside an assigned workstation in Eldoret and willing to travel within the East Africa region.
5. Have a valid and clean Kenyan driving license.
6. Ability to effectively build and maintain formal and informal relationship networks both internally and externally.
7. Strong capability to develop robust customer relationships and deliver customer-centric solutions.
8. Aptitude for making sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes conflicting information to solve problems effectively.
