Senior Production Manager

Farmers Choice Limited is a leading meat processing and food manufacturing company based in Kenya.

The Senior Production Manager will be responsible for managing all manufacturing operations at Farmers Choice Limited. This role involves driving production efficiency, maintaining high product quality, ensuring strict adherence to food safety standards, and optimizing operational costs. The manager will lead and develop production teams, implement continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with various departments to ensure smooth and effective production processes.

1. Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily production activities to meet targets and customer demand.
2. Optimize labor productivity, raw material utilization, product yields, and manufacturing costs.
3. Monitor and control overtime, staffing levels, and shift operations to improve efficiency.
4. Ensure compliance with food safety, quality assurance, hygiene, HACCP, GMP, and occupational health and safety standards.
5. Coordinate equipment maintenance to minimize production downtime, wastage, and rejects.
6. Lead, coach, and develop production teams, ensuring accountability and achievement of performance targets.
7. Monitor production Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), prepare performance reports, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
8. Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Planning, Stores, and Dispatch departments for seamless production operations.

1. Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field.
2. Minimum of 15 years of experience, with at least 3 years in a management role.
3. Strategic, results-oriented leadership with a strong focus on accountability and achieving operational targets.
4. Advanced skills in production planning, capacity optimization, and operational excellence in high-volume food manufacturing.
5. Strong commercial acumen and data-driven decision-making abilities to optimize costs, yields, labor productivity, and resource utilization.
6. Influential communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
7. Strong commitment to food safety, quality, people development, and continuous improvement.
8. Experience in meat processing, FMCG manufacturing, or a similar high-volume food manufacturing environment is a significant advantage.
9. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety systems, production planning, cost control, yield management, and labor productivity.
