Job Description

The Equipment Operator Foreman (Tier 2) at Manda Bay leads a team of equipment operators, assigning equipment and personnel based on project priorities. This role requires effective communication with clients, project staff, and team members. The foreman is also responsible for coordinating proper maintenance and repair of assigned equipment, ensuring adherence to safe work practices and safety requirements at all times. Administrative duties and performing subordinate tasks are also part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead a team of Equipment Operators and perform operator duties as required.
  2. Allocate equipment and personnel according to project priorities.
  3. Communicate effectively with clients, project personnel, and team members.
  4. Coordinate proper maintenance and repair of assigned equipment.
  5. Ensure safe work practices and compliance with all safety requirements.
  6. Complete necessary administrative requirements and perform duties of subordinate personnel.
  7. Operate various light, medium, and some heavy equipment, including light to heavy-duty trucks.
  8. Perform skilled and semi-skilled duties related to project construction, operations, and maintenance.
  9. Operate specific equipment such as single and dual axle dump trucks, loaders, rollers, compactors, tractors, sprayers, sweepers, plows, forklifts, and backhoes.
  10. Check equipment condition and report major mechanical issues, performing minor or emergency repairs if needed.
  11. Train less skilled workers in equipment operation and care.
  12. Perform manual labor or other assigned duties.

Requirements

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. 4 to 7 years of related experience.
  3. Possess the job knowledge, skill level, and physical ability required for the assigned functions.
  4. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate level to comply with safety, health, and security requirements.
  5. Must be certified and able to operate relevant equipment.
