Job Description

Valley Hospital, a prominent Level 4 medical facility in Nakuru City, is seeking a skilled and results-oriented Revenue Accountant to join its Finance Department. The successful candidate will be crucial in managing the hospital's financial inflows, focusing on precision in revenue processes from various services. This position is integral to maintaining financial integrity, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and internal financial guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Accurately record and reconcile revenue from all hospital services, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy, laboratory, and diagnostics.
  2. Reconcile daily collections with hospital management system records and bank deposits, investigating and resolving any discrepancies.
  3. Verify cashier receipts and ensure correct classification of income by service line and payment method.
  4. Supervise cashiering operations, monitor performance, and ensure accurate payment posting, official receipt issuance, cash handovers, and bank deposits.
  5. Review end-of-day reconciliations and enforce compliance with internal cash-handling procedures and financial controls.
  6. Prepare periodic revenue reports categorized by department, payer, and reporting period to aid financial planning and decision-making.
  7. Conduct revenue variance analysis, identify revenue leakages and underperformance, and recommend corrective measures.
  8. Ensure timely and accurate submission of revenue reports for monthly and year-end financial reporting.
  9. Maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails for all revenue transactions and provide support for internal and external audits.
  10. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, revenue recognition principles, and hospital policies.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  2. CPA qualification, minimum Section
  3. At least three (3) years of relevant experience in an organization of similar size.
  4. Strong knowledge of revenue accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
  5. Proficiency in accounting software and hospital management systems, especially billing and revenue reporting modules.
  6. Excellent analytical skills, including revenue variance analysis and identifying revenue leakages.
  7. High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing financial records, receipts, and reconciliations.
  8. Strong understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and financial compliance.
  9. Demonstrated ability to supervise, guide, and support cashiering teams.
  10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  11. High levels of integrity, accountability, confidentiality, and ethical conduct.
