Job Description

The Mobility Finance Manager will lead the end-to-end monthly close process, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions, depreciation, and foreign exchange. They will produce variance analysis to distinguish brand-mix effects from one-off items, monitor the loan book, analyze repayment behavior by cohort, and manage provisioning and bad debt trends. The role involves leading lender reporting and covenant compliance, managing drawdown documentation, and supporting due diligence. Additionally, the manager will act as a commercial partner, collaborating with the commercial team to interrogate OEM economics, model new product launches, assess new supply agreements, and build financial cases for board presentations and grant proposals. This role is unique as it involves designing financial tools, workbooks, and ways of working from scratch, identifying automation opportunities, building controls, and ensuring IFRS compliance in areas like IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21, revenue recognition, and IFRS 18 readiness. The position offers direct exposure to development finance and climate finance, engaging with impact investors, development finance institutions, and climate finance structures.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the end-to-end monthly close process, including accruals, prepayments, intercompany, depreciation, and FX.
  2. Produce variance analysis to isolate brand-mix effects from one-off items.
  3. Monitor the loan book, analyze repayment behavior by cohort, and manage provisioning and bad debt trends.
  4. Lead lender reporting and covenant compliance.
  5. Manage drawdown documentation and support due diligence processes.
  6. Collaborate with the commercial team to interrogate OEM economics and model new product launches.
  7. Assess new supply agreements and build financial cases for board presentations and grant proposals.
  8. Design financial tools, workbooks, and processes.
  9. Identify automation opportunities and build controls from scratch.
  10. Ensure IFRS compliance, particularly with IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21, revenue recognition, and IFRS 18 readiness.

Requirements

  1. Qualified Chartered Accountant (CPA(K), ACCA, CA or equivalent) with a demonstrable track record in finance management or a senior finance role, including hands-on ownership of statutory and management reporting cycles.
  2. Deep, applied IFRS knowledge, especially IFRS 9, IFRS 16, IAS 21, and revenue recognition, with proven ability to manage audit processes end-to-end.
  3. Exceptional financial modelling and communication skills, capable of building complex multi-scenario models in Excel and presenting conclusions clearly.
  4. Big 4 training (PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG) is a strong advantage.
  5. Working knowledge of the East African electric mobility sector is a plus, but curiosity and commercial instincts are more important.
