Internship Description

This internship is a 12 months’ talent incubation programme aiming to give young Christian graduates real work experience, personal, spiritual and professional development through on- job mentorship and coaching.

What You Will Do

  1. Monitor and Report on Field Office Advocacy Progress (Impact)
  2. Schedule, send the agenda and take meeting notes for dissemination and filing in Box for Regional Advocacy Forum (quarterly), 9 FO bimonthly (once every two months) calls, External Engagement Meeting
  3. Update the EAR, FO and external partners contact list
  4. File and organize the EAR Advocacy documents in Box
  5. Draft the quarterly Board Report
  6. Update the key events from 1 October 2023 – 30 September 2024 including people reached and children reached
  7. Develop regional trends in Excel of advocacy performance documents namely: Annual plans, Advocacy Maturity Matrix (AMM), Advocacy Strategic Measures (ASM), Advocacy Capacity Statements and External Engagement Plans.
  8. Draft 2 policy briefs (one every 6 months)
  9. Update the EAR statistics table quarterly
  10. Compile children’s voices from the ENOUGH Campaign launches and develop 1 EAR Report
  11. Track and update the policy change agenda 9 FOs for ENOUGH Campaign
  12. Schedule, send the agenda and take meeting notes for dissemination and filing in Box for EAR External Engagement team quarterly
  13. Schedule 4 high level External Engagement meetings
  14. Review the EE tracker monthly and follow-up with the EE Team
  15. Track key messages humanitarian advocacy for 4 FOs quarterly
  16. Prepare the draft budget, agenda and logistics (flights, accommodation, meals, ground transport, advocacy material, passports and visas) for WV EAR Advocacy internal and external meetings, workshops, launches, conferences or forums
  17. Upload the relevant documents on regional WV EAR Advocacy statements, policy briefs and other documents in different platforms such as WV Central, Relief Web and Box.
  18. Participate in the quarterly meetings of the EAR Children’s Council, take notes and disseminate
  19. Organise 1 physical meeting for the EAR Children’s Council
  20. Develop social media captions
  21. Support in developing the staff note for specific commemorative days
  22. Support in monitoring the social media responses.

Requirements

  1. 1 to 2 years of experience in advocacy, external engagement, campaigns or policy analysis work in developing countries.
  2. Knowledge on Child Rights including the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child or the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
  3. Experience planning and organizing workshops or forums for participants in multiple countries.
  4. Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, particularly in a cross-cultural environment
  5. Planning and organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple activities
  6. Research experience especially in policy and advocacy
  7. Understanding of humanitarian and fragile contexts
  8. Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, communication, public policy, management or law
  9. Training certificate on advocacy, child rights and policy influence, an added advantage
  10. Graduated within the last 2 years
