Job Description

The Warranty Engineer is responsible for the comprehensive administration, initiation, and progression of various claims, including those for maintenance reserves, product warranties, performance guarantees, and insurance. This position is crucial for upholding product quality standards and safeguarding the financial well-being of the organization through diligent and effective warranty management practices.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Compile maintenance records for aircraft and engine components to identify tasks eligible for maintenance reserve compensation and initiate claims with Lessors.
  2. Gather data from aircraft, engine, and component maintenance records regarding restoration, modification, and inspection activities that qualify for warranty compensation, then initiate claims with respective vendors to optimize costs.
  3. Monitor any deviations from contracted terms and implement recovery measures to ensure optimal product quality and cost efficiency.
  4. Track the performance of aircraft, engines, and components, including Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time Between Repairs (MTBR), initiating actions to secure compensation if performance falls below guaranteed levels.
  5. Collect necessary data and initiate insurance claims through Kenya Airways' insurance department for incidents involving aircraft, engine, and component damage or losses.
  6. Extract, compile, and distribute information on the company's entitlements and obligations under each executed agreement for system-wide awareness, and provide monthly status reports on claims for internal use.

Requirements

  1. University Degree in Engineering or Supply Chain Management from a recognized institution.
  2. Preferably 5 years of working knowledge and experience in aircraft maintenance or a technical field.
  3. Familiarity with all corresponding repair, warranties, stores, inventory, technical, production, and quality interfaces.
  4. Proficient in examining large and complex datasets to detect trends and derive meaningful insights.
  5. Ability to understand complex contracts and summarize key terms.
  6. Strong working knowledge of aircraft maintenance is an added advantage.
  7. Successful completion of the Graduate Engineering Program will be an added advantage.
  8. Strong business acumen.
  9. Self-starter who can work with minimal direct supervision on both ad-hoc requests and core tasks.
  10. Strong analytical ability and attention to detail, with excellent math skills.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and working knowledge of MS Excel, Word & PowerPoint programs.
  12. Ability to complete tasks within predetermined time constraints is critical.
  13. Assertive with good decision-making ability.
  14. Strong team player.
  15. Proactive (Bias for action and takes initiative).
  16. Have proven integrity, transparency, and accountability.
  17. Ability to handle multiple tasks without compromising quality.
  18. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
