Job Description

Pearl Hospital is looking for a diligent and precise Finance Officer to manage daily accounting operations and ensure robust financial controls. The ideal candidate will be consistent in execution, capable of meeting deadlines, and meticulous in maintaining comprehensive financial records.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Record and review all daily financial transactions.
  2. Conduct reconciliations for bank accounts, cash, suppliers, debtors, and the general ledger.
  3. Reconcile revenue from the hospital system with insurance claims and received payments.
  4. Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on payments from insurers and corporate clients.
  5. Process supplier invoices and prepare payment schedules accurately.
  6. Assist with the preparation and reconciliation of payroll.
  7. Generate monthly financial reports and complete month-end schedules.
  8. File statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, and Housing Levy.
  9. Maintain precise records for fixed assets, inventory, and overall financial data.
  10. Prepare necessary documentation and schedules for both internal and external audits.
  11. Support departmental budgeting processes and monitor expenditure.
  12. Identify transactional errors, potential revenue leakage, and weaknesses in financial controls.
  13. Ensure strict adherence to the hospital's financial policies and approval procedures.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  2. Attainment of CPA Part III, CPA Advanced Level, or an equivalent higher qualification.
  3. Three to five years of practical, hands-on experience in accounting.
  4. Proven experience in performing reconciliations, managing receivables and payables, processing payroll, handling taxation, and preparing financial reports.
  5. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and various accounting software.
  6. Practical understanding of KRA iTax, eTIMS, and general statutory compliance.
  7. Demonstrated high levels of accuracy, integrity, organizational skills, and accountability.
  8. Ability to work autonomously and meet stringent reporting deadlines.
  9. Experience within a hospital or other healthcare organization is an advantage.
  10. Familiarity with hospital billing, insurance claims, and revenue-cycle reconciliation is a plus.
  11. Knowledge of hospital management or ERP systems is beneficial.
