Junior NOC Engineer

The Junior NOC Engineer, reporting to the Service Reliability Manager, is tasked with the daily monitoring and first-line operational support for the company's network, infrastructure, and technology services. Key aspects of this role include monitoring events, detecting incidents, performing initial troubleshooting, escalating issues as needed, and ensuring all operational procedures are strictly followed.

1. Monitor alerts across network, server, application, cloud, and infrastructure using designated tools.
2. Perform initial troubleshooting and resolve common incidents.
3. Escalate incidents that exceed defined thresholds to senior engineers or relevant support teams.
4. Acknowledge, log, categorize, and prioritize incidents according to service level agreements.
5. Monitor WAN, LAN, VPN, internet connectivity, firewalls, and critical applications.
6. Execute routine health checks and complete operational checklists.
7. Support the implementation of approved changes and conduct post-change monitoring.
8. Maintain accurate records of incidents, shift activities, and operational logs.
9. Adhere to documented procedures, runbooks, and recovery guides.
10. Assist in disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
11. Identify and report recurring alerts to the Senior NOC Engineer for detailed analysis.
12. Support service restoration efforts during incidents.
13. Promptly escalate potential risks and events that could impact services.

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field.
2. 2-3 years of experience in Network Operations Center (NOC), Network Operations, Infrastructure Support, or IT Operations.
3. Proficiency with network monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, or Nagios.
4. Understanding of basic networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
5. Knowledge of routing and switching, including VPNs and VLANs.
6. Fundamental administration skills for Windows and Linux servers.
7. Familiarity with incident and problem management processes.
8. Understanding of cloud environments like Azure or AWS.
9. Basic scripting knowledge in PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
10. Experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow or Jira Service Management.
