F&B Banquet Supervisor

Villa Rosa Kempinski Nairobi is a luxury hotel established in 2013, offering hospitality services in Nairobi, Kenya.

This role involves assisting the Banquet Manager and Assistant Banquet Manager in establishing the banquet department as a successful, independent profit center. The primary responsibility is to supervise the banquet waiters and waitresses, ensuring excellent guest satisfaction and optimizing food and beverage profitability in line with the hotel's established service standards.

1. Maintain thorough knowledge of hotel facilities and local information to assist guests effectively.
2. Execute all tasks efficiently and punctually, adhering to company policies and departmental objectives.
3. Handle all food, beverage, and operating equipment with care to minimize waste and breakages.
4. Strictly follow all hotel regulations and specific policies regarding fire, life, and safety.
5. Lead the Banquet Waiter/Waitress team, ensuring workstations are fully stocked, organized, and meet luxury presentation standards.
6. Monitor service sequences in real-time, providing immediate coaching to staff to ensure high performance and revenue goal achievement.
7. Utilize approved suggestive selling techniques to promote high-margin products and enhance guest experiences.
8. Apply advanced supervisory and communication skills to maximize team productivity and boost employee morale.
9. Maintain expert knowledge of all banquet food and beverage offerings to confidently recommend pairings and upsell alternatives.
10. Enforce strict cash handling procedures and ensure every order is accurately processed through the MICROS POS system before service.
11. Promptly report and manage “Lost and Found” items according to hotel standard operating procedures.
12. Proactively identify, report, and rectify any potential or actual safety hazards within the banquet areas immediately.
13. Demonstrate adaptability regarding shift changes and assignments based on business demands and event schedules.
14. Maintain impeccable grooming standards, reporting for duty punctually in the correct uniform and name tag.
15. Perform additional duties as assigned by management to support the evolving needs of the banquet department.

1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in an F&B Supervisory position within a 5-star hotel.
2. Hold a Diploma or Certificate in Food and Beverage or Sales.
3. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in additional languages is an advantage.
4. Demonstrated up-selling skills and techniques.
