The Welding Technician is responsible for carrying out welding tasks, ensuring that all welds are structurally sound and free from defects. This involves selecting and applying suitable welding processes and techniques to meet quality standards. The role also requires adherence to safety regulations and participation in safety training.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety regulations and best practices in the workplace.
- Participate in safety training programs.
- Perform MIG, SMAW, Resistant Spot Welding (RSW), or TIG welding operations, ensuring welds are defect-free and meet specified size standards.
- Inspect joint preparations and report any substandard work.
- Prepare jigs and welding fixtures as needed for product production and welding.
- Execute fitting and weld preparation procedures according to specified standards and assembly/fabrication drawings.
- Properly set up and operate all welding equipment.
- Efficiently use welding consumables and tools.
- Maintain welding equipment in full operational condition.
- Read and interpret technical documents and drawings to ensure products are built/welded according to design.
- Work in compliance with KVM Quality policy, procedures, and work instructions.
- Champion quality improvement initiatives and implement Kaizen principles and standards.
- Adhere to KVM HSE Policy and ANZEN principles.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Requirements
- Diploma or Certificate in welding or a related field.
- Completed secondary level education.
- Knowledge of welding best practices and safety procedures.
- Minimum of 2 years of working experience in welding and fabrication, specifically in structural work or the automotive field.
