Credit Officer – Microfinance

Excelon Limited provides specialized HR services to MSMEs, helping them manage HR challenges, foster positive work environments, and enhance organizational effectiveness.

This role is with a credit-only microfinance company that provides business loans and payroll advances. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing credit operations, actively working to recover overdue loans, and ensuring the overall health and performance of the loan portfolio.

1. Monitor loan accounts, track repayments, and recover outstanding amounts.
2. Negotiate repayment plans with customers and ensure adherence to commitments.
3. Work to reduce non-performing loans and reinstate overdue accounts to good standing.
4. Evaluate loan applications and provide recommendations for approval based on credit policies.
5. Perform Know Your Customer (KYC) verification and maintain comprehensive loan documentation.
6. Liaise with legal service providers, credit reference bureaus, debt collectors, and auctioneers for recovery efforts.
7. Ensure accurate maintenance of both physical and digital customer records.
8. Generate regular reports on collections, overdue accounts, and overall portfolio performance.

1. Hold a degree or diploma in Credit Management, Business, or a related discipline.
2. Possess a minimum of 2 years' experience in credit operations, ideally within microfinance or financial services.
3. Demonstrate proven expertise in debt recovery and managing loan portfolios.
4. Have a solid understanding of credit risk assessment and recovery processes.
5. Be capable of achieving collection targets.
6. Exhibit strong negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
7. Maintain high levels of integrity, confidentiality, and meticulous attention to detail.
8. Be proficient in using Microsoft Office applications.
