Assistant Project Manager

Nariana Enterprises is an accredited civil engineering contractor and a supplier of Laboratory, Material Testing, and Surveying Equipment in the region.

This highly hands-on role requires an individual comfortable interacting directly with clients, end-users, consultants, suppliers, and international manufacturers. The ideal candidate should possess a strong engineering background, a deep understanding of technical specifications, and the ability to independently manage assigned projects and deliverables. The position involves travel to project sites within Kenya and potentially the wider region.

1. Assist in planning, coordinating, and managing projects from award through to successful completion and handover.
2. Develop and monitor project schedules, deliverables, procurement requirements, and key milestones.
3. Coordinate internally with procurement, finance, logistics, and technical teams to ensure projects stay on schedule.
4. Attend and actively participate in meetings with clients, consultants, and end-users.
5. Aggressively follow up on outstanding actions to ensure project progress without unnecessary delays.
6. Support installation, commissioning, testing, and training activities at client sites.
7. Travel to project sites within Kenya and, when required, within the region.
8. Review tender documents, Bills of Quantities, technical specifications, and contractual requirements in detail.
9. Accurately interpret technical specifications and identify suitable manufacturers compliant with client requirements.
10. Prepare technical compliance schedules, equipment schedules, technical submissions, and supporting tender documentation.
11. Collaborate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain quotations, technical documentation, datasheets, authorization letters, and other necessary documents.
12. Assist in preparing both technical and commercial tender submissions.
13. Monitor upcoming opportunities and support the company in preparing competitive bids.
14. Identify suitable local and international manufacturers, suppliers, and technical partners.
15. Evaluate equipment based on technical compliance, quality, price, lead time, warranty, after-sales support, and suitability for the intended application.
16. Engage directly with manufacturers through email, online meetings, and technical discussions.
17. Negotiate commercially when required and maintain strong supplier relationships.
18. Develop a strong understanding of specialized engineering, laboratory, testing, instrumentation, and related technical equipment.
19. Participate in the installation and commissioning of supplied equipment and instruments.
20. Coordinate with manufacturers, technical specialists, and client teams during installation activities.
21. Assist in troubleshooting technical issues during project execution.
22. Support end-user training and demonstrations.
23. Ensure all installation and commissioning documentation is properly completed.
24. Coordinate the successful handover of equipment and projects to the client.

1. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized university.
2. Possess a minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience.
3. Previous experience in a similar role involving project management, tendering, technical equipment supply, engineering projects, or instrumentation is strongly preferred.
4. Demonstrated experience in reviewing and interpreting technical specifications.
5. Experience sourcing engineering equipment or technical instruments from manufacturers and suppliers.
6. Experience dealing directly with clients, consultants, end-users, and manufacturers.
7. Experience preparing technical and commercial tender submissions.
8. Practical exposure to equipment installation, commissioning, or technical project execution is an advantage.
9. Experience working on government, institutional, or donor-funded tenders is an added advantage.
10. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
11. A valid driving license is an added advantage.
12. Must be willing to travel to project sites within Kenya and the region when required.
