Job Description
M-KOPA Mobility offers affordable electric mobility solutions in emerging markets, collaborating with OEMs to provide scalable and reliable products. This position is crucial for maintaining hardware quality, overseeing refurbishment processes, and managing relationships with OEM partners. The role operates in a dynamic environment where the technician's work directly influences product market readiness and defect prevention.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality control checks on devices, components, and accessories according to approved standard operating procedures and AQL standards, documenting all defects.
- Execute standardized test plans, calibration procedures, and final functional tests on new sample bikes using specified fixtures and software, ensuring full traceability.
- Manage the entire refurbishment process, from initial triage and repair to verification testing and re-release, classifying faults and ensuring units meet 'as-new' standards.
- Compile defect trends and failure analysis into weekly feedback for OEM partners, supporting corrective and preventive actions and validating fixes through targeted testing.
- Maintain updated SOPs, work instructions, checklists, and test records on Zoho, ensuring compliance with EHS, ESD-safe handling, and battery safety protocols.
- Contribute to device history records and audit readiness, participating in root-cause analysis using methodologies like 5-Why or Ishikawa.
- Safeguard and calibrate test equipment on schedule, accurately track critical spares and refurbishment parts, and support pilot runs, sample evaluations, and first article inspections.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent technical experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in product testing, electronics quality control, or repair and refurbishment.
- Practical experience with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, battery testers, and test fixtures.
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and interpret firmware versions and logs.
- Proficiency in documenting test results and working with quality or ticketing systems; familiarity with Freshdesk, Zoho CRM, and SafetyCulture report templates is a plus.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, a safety-first mindset, and the capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Desirable experience in mobility, consumer electronics, or battery-powered devices.
