Driver

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a leading wildlife conservancy dedicated to conservation and community empowerment, fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.

The role involves safely and efficiently transporting staff, guests, goods, and equipment both within and outside Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The driver will conduct daily vehicle inspections, maintain accurate journey documentation, and ensure all driving activities comply with traffic laws and internal policies. Key aspects include prioritizing passenger safety, properly handling goods, managing fuel resources, and promptly reporting any incidents or maintenance needs. The driver is also expected to maintain vehicle cleanliness and adhere to all occupational health and safety requirements.

1. Operate Conservancy vehicles safely and efficiently for transporting employees, guests, goods, and materials to designated locations.
2. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and routine checks to ensure roadworthiness and proper functioning of components.
3. Complete journey authorization forms, logbooks, and trip sheets accurately, maintaining records of destinations, mileage, fuel consumption, and passengers.
4. Ensure all driving activities adhere to applicable traffic laws, Conservancy policies, and standard operating procedures.
5. Provide safe and professional transportation for staff, guests, and authorized passengers, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism.
6. Properly load, secure, and transport goods, equipment, and materials to prevent loss or damage, verifying deliveries and obtaining acknowledgements.
7. Follow approved fuel management procedures, maintain accurate fuel records, and report any discrepancies or unusual consumption.
8. Immediately report any accidents, traffic incidents, vehicle damage, breakdowns, or security incidents, completing required documentation.
9. Maintain effective communication with supervisors and departments regarding vehicle availability, journeys, delays, and schedule changes.
10. Keep assigned vehicles clean, orderly, and presentable, ensuring accessories, tools, and emergency equipment are available and maintained.
11. Comply with all occupational health and safety requirements and Conservancy safety procedures, using personal protective equipment.
12. Perform any other lawful and reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

1. Minimum of an O-Level Certificate or equivalent qualification.
2. Must possess a valid and current driving license covering Classes B, C, and D.
3. A valid driving license covering Classes E and/or G is an added advantage.
4. Certification in defensive driving and/or vehicle maintenance is an added advantage.
5. Applicants holding a Class F driving license are encouraged to apply.
6. Minimum of 5 years of continuous driving experience with relevant vehicle classes.
7. Strong driving skills and a good understanding of vehicle maintenance.
8. Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
9. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
10. High level of integrity, discipline, and professionalism.
11. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
