Job Description
The Underwriter will provide essential operational support to the Underwriting Manager, assisting with the evaluation and acceptance of risks in line with set underwriting guidelines. This position also involves offering general support to other underwriters within the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries from customers and intermediaries.
- Perform reconciliation of clients' accounts within the department.
- Follow up on policy renewals.
- Process policy documents for new business.
- Prepare and dispatch renewal notices.
- Issue endorsements for renewals, additions, and deletions.
- Issue motor certificates, marine certificates, and yellow cards.
- Assist in processing loss ratio reports and reviewing account performance.
- Support the claims department by providing necessary documents and details within specified turnaround times.
- Contribute to the retention of existing client accounts.
- Ensure adherence to debt management guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce degree with an Insurance Option, or a related business degree, from a recognized university.
- At least one year of experience in a busy underwriting department.
- Demonstrated progress in professional insurance qualifications.
