Job Description

The Head of Technology at Safal Group is a pivotal leadership role focused on driving the organization's technological and digital agenda to significantly improve manufacturing operations, overall business efficiency, resilience, and growth. This position encompasses the entire enterprise technology strategy, overseeing digital transformation initiatives, ensuring robust cybersecurity, managing data and analytics capabilities, optimizing enterprise applications, and maintaining critical infrastructure. A key aspect of the role involves integrating IT with operational technology across all manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will be directly accountable for the financial performance of the Group's technology investments, measured by a verifiable and sustained contribution to EBITDA, cost competitiveness, working capital management, and return on capital. The role requires a commitment to delivering a defined annual EBITDA contribution through cost reduction, productivity gains, margin improvement, and revenue enablement, with benefits jointly owned with business leaders and validated by Finance.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage the technology P&L, Opex, and Capex budgets, committing to and delivering a defined annual EBITDA contribution through technology initiatives.
  2. Develop and execute the technology roadmap, establishing architecture, standards, policies, investment priorities, and governance across the organization.
  3. Lead digital and manufacturing transformation efforts, including automation, smart factory, and Industry 4.0 initiatives, to achieve measurable gains in OEE, yield, uptime, and energy efficiency.
  4. Oversee and optimize enterprise applications such as ERP, MES, CRM, HRIS, and supply chain platforms, simplifying the application landscape and improving integration and user adoption.
  5. Establish robust data governance, create a single source of truth, and deliver dashboards, advanced analytics, and practical AI solutions to enhance margin, pricing, inventory, and working capital decisions.
  6. Protect information and operational technology assets by overseeing cyber risk, privacy, business continuity, disaster recovery, and security awareness, articulating cyber and technology risk in financial terms.
  7. Ensure secure, reliable, and cost-effective networks, cloud services, and workplace technology across all locations, while actively reducing the unit cost of service and total cost of ownership.
  8. Allocate capital to high-return programs using stage-gate investment governance, conduct post-investment reviews, rationalize applications, renegotiate contracts, and ensure investments deliver measurable financial outcomes.
  9. Build a capable technology team, strengthen digital capabilities across the business, and foster strong collaboration between Technology, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, and Corporate Functions.

Requirements

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are advantageous.
  2. Possess progressive technology experience, including senior leadership responsibility within a manufacturing or similarly asset-intensive, multi-site environment.
  3. Demonstrate a strong preference for experience running a business or a large department with direct P&L accountability.
  4. Exhibit a proven track record of delivering enterprise systems, digital transformation, cybersecurity, and technology modernization programs with quantified financial outcomes.
  5. Have experience leading multidisciplinary teams, managing major vendors, overseeing significant opex and capex budgets, and driving organizational change across multiple sites or countries.
  6. Possess strong commercial and financial literacy, including expertise in business case development, NPV/IRR analysis, total cost of ownership, capex governance, and benefits tracking.
  7. Be comfortable with financial accountability alongside the CFO and business leaders.
