Job Description
This role involves supporting the HR function within Unifi's Kenyan operations, encompassing the entire employee lifecycle from recruitment to fostering a positive work environment. The HR Generalist will work closely with managers, providing practical insights and guidance on people-related decisions, ensuring processes are streamlined, and contributing to a workplace where employees can thrive and perform optimally. The individual will embody Unifi's values and contribute to making it an engaging place to work.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the complete employee journey, keeping managers informed and offering practical insights for people decisions.
- Develop and maintain talent pipelines for frequently needed or hard-to-fill positions to support continuous growth.
- Oversee relationships with external recruitment partners, ensuring they provide high-quality candidates.
- Represent Unifi at career fairs, networking events, and other opportunities to attract top talent.
- Deliver effective onboarding programs that help new employees quickly integrate, understand the business, and contribute confidently.
- Collaborate closely with managers to ensure new hires are supported, equipped, and set up for success from their first day.
- Build strong relationships with managers, understanding their team dynamics and challenges.
- Act as a trusted partner to managers, offering practical guidance on people and process-related decisions.
- Drive the performance management process, ensuring clear expectations, meaningful discussions, and accountability.
- Work with the HR team and wider business to implement people initiatives that enhance engagement and capability.
- Ensure employee records, HR systems, and administrative tasks are accurate, reliable, and current.
- Consistently follow HR processes and monitor employees' effective use of relevant tools and systems.
- Contribute to creating an environment where employees can excel, thrive, and contribute to business success.
- Actively embody Unifi's values and help cultivate a positive and enjoyable work atmosphere.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree or an equivalent qualification.
- Possess at least 3 years of experience in a generalist HR operations role, covering the full employee lifecycle.
- Be confident in supporting and challenging managers when necessary, demonstrating sound judgment and a practical approach.
- Exhibit clear, direct, and respectful communication skills.
- Capable of building strong relationships, earning trust, and collaborating effectively with diverse teams across different countries.
- Be organized and dependable, able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining high work standards.
- Demonstrate resilience, resourcefulness, a hands-on approach, and a "let's get it done" attitude.
- Show passion for helping people succeed and thrive in their roles.
- Be curious and continuously seek improved methods for work processes and enhancing the employee experience.
- Be willing and able to travel across Africa as required.
