Job Description
The Assistant Accountant - Receivables is responsible for managing the daily financial operations related to receivables at KCA University's Town campus. This includes handling student billing, processing various payment types, reconciling accounts, and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The role also involves assisting with financial inquiries and supporting end-of-semester financial checks.
Key Responsibilities
- Billing duly registered students.
- Processing MPESA payments.
- Handling student finance inquiries.
- Verifying, posting, and issuing receipts for all University payments, including cheques, Mpesa, and direct deposit transfers.
- Ensuring third-party documents presented for receipting comply with financial policies and procedures.
- Assisting in class spot checks.
- Reconciling daily receipts summaries.
- Reconciling student accounts.
- Ensuring all received cheques are banked promptly.
- Maintaining safe custody of banking slips.
- Ensuring all financial documents are properly filled.
- Assisting in checking financial compliance during end-of-semester exams.
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Finance or Accounting) from an accredited or recognized University.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) II qualification.
- One (1) year of relevant work experience, preferably in a University or a comparable institution.
- Proficiency in computer skills, particularly with automated financial and accounting reporting systems.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work schedules effectively.
- Skill in developing spreadsheets and performing data analysis.
- High integrity and ability to uphold confidentiality of information.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong time management skills.
