Job Description
The Head of MSME will be responsible for providing strategic leadership to develop and expand Family Bank's Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) banking sector. This involves driving sustainable growth in assets and liabilities, improving customer acquisition and retention, ensuring strong portfolio quality, and delivering innovative, customer-centric financial solutions. The role requires leading the formulation and execution of the MSME strategy, effectively segmenting the market, developing propositions, strengthening relationship management and distribution channels, and optimizing risk-adjusted returns while adhering to regulatory and internal bank requirements. The incumbent will also champion strategic partnerships, digital solutions, and ecosystem-based approaches to enhance MSME financial inclusion, improve customer experience, and establish Family Bank as the preferred financial partner for MSMEs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the SME Banking Strategy in alignment with the Bank’s overall strategic plan.
- Identify priority sectors, value chains, and growth corridors to expand the portfolio.
- Lead the transformation of SME and franchise businesses into scalable, digitally enabled lines.
- Drive innovation in business banking products, including structured trade, working capital, supply chain, and sector-specific solutions.
- Deliver strong, sustainable growth in the SME loan book, deposits, CASA, and non-funded income.
- Optimize the portfolio mix for yield, risk diversification, and capital efficiency.
- Increase wallet share from existing clients through cross-selling Bank products.
- Position the Bank as a preferred partner for SMEs, mid-corporates, and large corporates.
- Champion excellent customer experience across onboarding, servicing, and turnaround times.
- Build strong relationships with key industry players, regulators, DFIs, and sector associations.
- Drive the development of tailored solutions for sector-specific financing (e.g., manufacturing, education, health, trade, agribusiness), supply chain, ecosystem banking, structured, and syndicated lending.
- Collaborate with Digital, Product, and Operations teams to digitize SME customer journeys.
- Build a high-performing SME banking team.
- Strengthen relationship management and sector specialization capabilities.
- Foster a strong performance culture based on accountability, customer focus, and collaboration.
- Mentor senior leaders and develop succession pipelines.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal governance standards.
- Contribute to enterprise-wide strategy, budgeting, and performance planning.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Banking, or a related field.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field (preferred).
- Professional banking or finance qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA, AKIB or equivalent) (advantageous).
- 10-12 years of banking experience.
- At least 6-8 years in SME Banking leadership roles.
- Proven track record in managing a large commercial/business banking portfolio.
- Demonstrated success in achieving loan and deposit growth while maintaining strong asset quality.
- Experience leading multi-segment or regional banking teams.
- Experience in a transforming or rapidly scaling bank (highly desirable).
- Exposure to digital transformation in business banking (an added advantage).
