Job Description
This role is for a Business Development Executive at USS, a provider of integrated electronic security systems. The primary goal is to assist the Business Development Manager (BDM) with ground-level lead generation, including cold calling, meeting scheduling, market research, and quotation preparation. This support allows the BDM to concentrate on high-level strategic relationships. Additionally, the Executive is expected to independently generate and progress credible leads, taking accountability for converting these into closed accounts, working in collaboration with the BDM but also autonomously.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct outbound cold calling and outreach to identify and generate leads within target sectors.
- Schedule meetings and introductions for the Business Development Manager with consultants, architects, quantity surveyors, project owners, and security managers.
- Perform groundwork such as site visits, project sightings, and market canvassing to identify ongoing or upcoming projects.
- Provide timely and accurate ground-level information and market intelligence to the BDM to support relationship and pipeline strategies.
- Prepare quotations in coordination with the presales team, based on gathered site details, client requirements, and specifications.
- Maintain and regularly update the CRM system with leads, contacts, and activities.
- Follow up on leads and maintain ongoing contact with prospects to nurture the pipeline between BDM engagements.
- Achieve agreed-upon Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), including the volume of credible leads and contacts generated and their conversion into closed accounts.
- Independently manage and progress personal leads through to closure when appropriate, in addition to supporting leads originated by the BDM.
- Offer general coordination and administrative support to the BDM, including scheduling, documentation, and following up on action items.
- Potentially focus on a specific industry vertical as the role develops, building deeper sector knowledge and contacts.
Requirements
- Hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Possess a minimum of 1–2 years of experience in B2B business development, sales support, or telesales.
- Demonstrate confidence, persistence, and comfort with outbound cold calling and fieldwork.
- Be well-organized, with strong follow-up discipline and attention to detail.
- Exhibit good verbal and written communication skills.
- Be familiar with CRM systems.
- Be comfortable working with quotation formats/data and coordinating with the presales team on pricing inputs.
- Be capable of working both under the direction of the BDM and independently, taking ownership of personal leads and targets.
- Prior exposure to the ELV (Extra Low Voltage) or electronic security domain is an advantage.
