Job Description

The Polling/Queuing/Counting Clerk reports directly to the Presiding Officer and is responsible for supporting the smooth operation of polling stations and counting rooms. This includes setting up the station, managing voter queues, verifying voter eligibility, distributing ballot papers, and assisting with the vote tabulation process. The role requires active participation throughout the entire electoral exercise.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist in setting up the polling station and counting room.
  2. Demarcate areas and display necessary posters at the polling station.
  3. Manage voter queues and direct voters to their designated polling stations.
  4. Verify that voters have not previously cast a vote by checking for indelible marks on their fingers.
  5. Confirm the identity of voters before they proceed to vote.
  6. Issue stamped ballot papers to voters who have been duly identified in the register.
  7. Support the Presiding Officer in sorting votes during the counting process after voting concludes.
  8. Perform any other official duties as assigned by the Presiding Officer.

Requirements

  1. Must be a Kenyan citizen of high integrity and non-partisan.
  2. Achieved an aggregate grade of C- or above in KCSE.
  3. Must possess good character.
  4. Must be available for the entire duration of the electoral exercise.
  5. Must be a resident of the specific County Assembly Ward.
