Job Description

The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving sales and marketing initiatives to expand the company's client base and retain existing customers. This includes preparing competitive tenders and quotations, leveraging market insights, and actively engaging with clients through service meetings to foster strong relationships and generate referrals. The role emphasizes achieving business targets while ensuring profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Implement departmental processes and procedures aligned with overall business objectives.
  2. Market insurance products to intermediaries and direct clients to achieve set premium targets with desirable profits.
  3. Utilize claims ratio analysis for accurate and timely preparation and dispatch of quotations and tenders.
  4. Prepare and submit marketing reports promptly for informed decision-making.
  5. Plan and execute customer visits and client service meetings to obtain referrals.
  6. Ensure timely and accurate issuance of policy documents, observing set guidelines.
  7. Share client feedback and market behavior insights for continuous improvements.
  8. Prepare and execute product presentations and documentation that meet client needs.
  9. Provide superior customer service to clients by ensuring required service delivery.
  10. Work towards continuous improvement of systems and processes, reporting any anomalies to management.
  11. Champion teamwork and good interpersonal relations to achieve motivation and high performance.
  12. Provide timely, accurate, and correct information, records, and data.
  13. Handle documents properly through identification, analysis, and filing.
  14. Ensure proper and objective communication to both internal and external clients for superior customer satisfaction.
  15. Assist with claims handling and filing.
  16. Follow up on payments for premiums due regarding both new and renewed business.
  17. Source and prepare reinsurance treaty documents and follow up on surplus or deficit payments.
  18. Perform tasks in accordance with existing regulatory and policy guidelines.
  19. Participate in training, talent, and career development to enhance performance.
  20. Implement departmental change initiatives to achieve desired business objectives.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Insurance or a Business-related field.
  2. Diploma in AIIK/ACII/FLMI.
  3. Sales and Marketing qualification is an added advantage.
  4. At least 3 years of relevant experience.
  5. Strong knowledge of insurance products.
  6. Proven selling skills.
  7. Excellent customer servicing abilities.
  8. Demonstrated self-initiative skills.
  9. Strong presentation skills.
  10. Good analytical skills.
  11. Effective networking skills.
  12. Problem-solving capabilities.
  13. Strong negotiation skills.
