Job Description

The Mortgage Performance Analyst will play a crucial role in assisting the Director of Mortgage to lead and manage the growth and profitability of the Mortgage Business. This involves ensuring efficient and effective operational risk management, fostering excellent customer service, and promoting a strong sales culture. A key aspect of the role is the preparation, development, and in-depth analysis of financial data and budgets specific to the Mortgage Business, alongside providing high-quality support services to line managers within the division.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide timely, relevant, and accurate reporting and analysis of the division’s performance against historical data, budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans to support informed decision-making.
  2. Extract, generate, and maintain mortgage-related data from various source points including Data Warehouse (EDWH), T24, Tranzware, Mobireg portal, BPM, and Credit Quest, ensuring accuracy and completeness, with a focus on transforming monitoring reports from data warehouse tables using SQL Oracle scripts into consumable formats.
  3. Demonstrate insightful use of financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts to offer practical counsel to business area partners and management, aiming to drive business results.
  4. Perform monthly balance sheet and income statement analysis, including changes in financial position and budget variance analysis, and develop annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and three-year strategic plans in conjunction with the Director’s line managers.
  5. Review monthly expenses to ensure correct booking, collaborate with the Finance team for necessary adjustments, and undertake cost/income evaluations and follow-up on revenue and cost reduction techniques, investigating possible cost-saving areas.
  6. Work with respective Relationship Managers to ensure timely submission of quarterly reports to KMRC and all other Scheme Administrators.
  7. Maintain productivity dashboards for all Mortgage Relationship Managers, Mortgage DSRs, and other RMs across the bank and regions.
  8. Conduct research, market, and competitor analysis to ensure proper benchmarking of mortgage products.
  9. Carry out daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc in-depth performance analysis covering trend and growth comparisons by sector, individual productivity, customer services, and controls, translating complex data into understandable insights for non-technical stakeholders and advising the Mortgage Director appropriately for decision-making.
  10. Advise the Mortgage Director on the daily performance of the division’s key business deliverables per segment, including updates on the progress of key mortgage initiatives.
  11. Hold custody of the division’s business targets for the year, updating or revising them as advised by the Director Mortgage, and championing the division’s business initiatives such as product development, sales improvement, and product penetration review.
  12. Validate data accuracy and integrity by conducting quality checks on data outputs for quality assurance, and provide quality and timely administrative services and liaison.
  13. Maintain and circulate business information received from the division and other Head Office functions to the bank’s branch network securely, with due regard for confidentiality, and follow up on pending issues from Branch Managers, Corporate Division, and other Head Office functions for closure.
  14. Maintain a database of training needs for various staff cadres in the division and assist in scheduling training in conjunction with HR and other Head Office functions.
  15. Develop and implement a mortgage academy in conjunction with various relevant units.
  16. Conduct in-depth analysis of all business data to facilitate planning and monitoring of individual staff productivity.
  17. Monitor the Regional Manager’s diary and advise on any changes or items requiring follow-up.
  18. Respond to routine correspondence from branches and Head Office effectively and efficiently.
  19. Follow up on all pending issues and matters with branches to ensure their conclusion.
  20. Ensure prompt distribution of incoming mails to respective Regional Managers.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
  2. Professional qualifications such as AKIB, CPA (K), or ACCA are desirable.
  3. A Master’s degree in a business-related field is an added advantage.
  4. Minimum of 3 years of total experience.
  5. Experience in performance analysis.
  6. Experience in financial analysis.
  7. Experience in budget forecasting.
