Job Description
The Business Development Manager will report to the Head of Corporate Business in Nairobi. The primary objective is to implement the sales strategy for the corporate market, specifically targeting broker channels to meet the department's strategic objectives. This involves identifying and closing business opportunities, managing existing client relationships for growth, and driving sales targets through strategic partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in developing and executing the sales strategy aligned with the company's overall growth.
- Identify, negotiate, and close broker business opportunities while adhering to quality guidelines to expand market share.
- Maintain and nurture existing corporate client relationships to identify cross-selling, growth, and new acquisition opportunities.
- Achieve sales targets by fostering strong relationships with partners in the broker channel.
- Recruit and manage broker partners to facilitate new business acquisition, cross-selling, and upselling.
- Provide accurate and competitive quotations for all product lines promptly to brokers and prospective clients.
- Conduct ongoing product training for brokers to ensure high product knowledge, professionalism, and accurate client advice.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic corporate clients to boost revenue.
- Gather market intelligence on key accounts, competitor activities, and industry trends.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, marketing staff, and other managers to enhance sales opportunities and maximize organizational revenue.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Marketing, or a related business discipline.
- Diploma in Insurance (ACII or AIIK).
- Membership with CII or IIK.
- 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong sales and marketing skills.
- Proven ability to manage and execute strategy.
- In-depth understanding of insurance operations, concepts, and regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of underwriting processes, procedures, and concepts.
- Comprehensive insurance product knowledge.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to formulate strategies and concepts.
- Entrepreneurial and commercial thinking.
- Strong planning and organizing abilities.
- Skilled in relating and networking with people.
- Adaptable and responsive to change.
