The internship program at KEMRI is designed to train individuals in various aspects of nutrition research and public health. Interns will gain expertise in nutrition research methodologies, including study design, data collection techniques like dietary assessments and anthropometry, and ethical considerations for human research. Training will also cover data management and analysis, encompassing data entry, cleaning, basic statistical analysis, interpretation, presentation of nutrition data, and the use of digital field data collection tools. Furthermore, interns will learn about community nutrition and public health programming, including planning and implementing interventions, delivering targeted nutrition education, and monitoring and evaluating programs. The curriculum also includes nutrition surveillance and policy, focusing on understanding Kenya’s key nutrition guidelines, utilizing nutrition indicators for decision-making, and recognizing the role of surveillance systems in health and nutrition. Interns will also be involved in organizing meetings, workshops, and field activities, and will undertake other assigned duties to support project operations.
What You Will Do
- Receive training on nutrition research methodologies, including study design, data collection techniques (dietary assessments, anthropometry), and ethical considerations in human research.
- Receive training on data management and analysis, covering data entry, cleaning, basic statistical analysis, interpretation, presentation of nutrition data, and the use of digital field data collection tools.
- Receive training on community nutrition and public health programming, including planning and implementing nutrition interventions, delivering targeted nutrition education, and monitoring and evaluating nutrition programs.
- Receive training on nutrition surveillance and policy, including understanding Kenya’s key nutrition guidelines, using nutrition indicators for decision-making, and the role of surveillance systems in health and nutrition.
- Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and field activities.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to support project operations.
Requirements
- Be a good team player.
- Possess strong presentation skills.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Be a Kenyan youth under 30 years of age.
- Demonstrate analytical and report writing skills.
- Have graduated and obtained the relevant final certificate.
