Director – Professional And Technical Training Institute (PTTI)

KCA University (KCAU) is an institution of higher learning founded in 1989. It aims to provide quality education and training.

KCA University is seeking a Director for its Professional and Technical Training Institute (PTTI). The primary objective of this role is to manage the institute in alignment with its strategic plan, ensuring its growth and development as a self-sustaining business unit. The Director will oversee all aspects of the institute's operations, from program development and financial management to strategic partnerships and compliance.

1. Lead the growth and development of the Institute and implement the KCAU PTTI Strategic Plan.
2. Oversee the development, implementation, review, and quality assurance of training programs to ensure industry relevance and compliance with standards.
3. Coordinate budget preparation, monitor financial performance, ensure prudent resource utilization, and develop strategies for revenue generation, partnerships, and resource mobilization.
4. Promote innovation, entrepreneurship, applied research, digital skills, and the integration of emerging technologies into training and institutional operations.
5. Develop and monitor institutional work plans, budgets, and performance targets, preparing periodic and quarterly progress reports.
6. Promote the Institute’s programs, strengthen its brand and reputation, and implement strategies to enhance competitiveness, student enrolment, retention, and success.
7. Implement approved policies and management decisions, maintain effective administrative systems and internal controls, and ensure accountability in institutional operations.
8. Oversee the effective utilization, maintenance, and development of training facilities, workshops, laboratories, equipment, and digital learning resources.
9. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with industry, employers, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance practical training, industrial attachment, innovation, and employment opportunities.
10. Liaise with business partners, external networks/stakeholders, and regulatory bodies, including TVETA, for compliance.
11. Develop a risk management framework for the Institute.
12. Mentor and supervise institute teams to provide excellent academic and administrative services.
13. Report to the University Council through the Vice-Chancellor & CEO.
14. Perform any other duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor & CEO.

1. Must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited university or recognized institution.
2. Must hold a relevant Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or recognized institution.
3. Must possess a professional, technical, or vocational qualification from an accredited or recognized institution.
4. A minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at a managerial level in a higher learning institution, TVET, or equivalent.
5. Must demonstrate outstanding administrative and managerial capability in organization and management.
6. Membership in a relevant professional association in good standing.
7. Ability to comprehend and implement the strategic plan of the University.
8. Capacity to mobilize resources.
9. Experience in planning and budgeting.
10. Must be a person of integrity.
11. Possess negotiation skills.
12. Ability to effectively handle the student community.
13. Strong strategic leadership and management skills.
14. Excellent people communication and public relations skills.
15. Ability to understand and manage the teaching process.
16. Extensive knowledge of the higher education framework and TVET Regulations.
