Job Description

The Corporate Sales Executive at Britam is responsible for driving the growth and retention of corporate General Insurance business. This involves actively engaging with Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs) to develop and manage relationships, identify new business opportunities, and achieve annual premium targets. The role also entails providing excellent customer service to IFAs and clients, ensuring timely resolution of issues, and proactively managing renewals to maximize retention.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Secure new corporate General Insurance business through Independent Financial Advisors (IFAs).
  2. Grow and retain existing corporate General Insurance business in line with set objectives and portfolio targets.
  3. Develop and maintain productive relationships with IFAs to maximize business opportunities and strengthen business retention.
  4. Provide excellent customer service to IFAs and clients, ensuring timely resolution of service issues and complaints.
  5. Proactively manage corporate business renewals to maximize retention and minimize business loss.
  6. Forward proposal forms, risk information, and other relevant documentation to Underwriting for timely processing.
  7. Follow up on premium collections and support the resolution of outstanding premium and receivables issues.
  8. Undertake initial risk assessment in accordance with approved underwriting guidelines and delegated authority requirements.
  9. Respond to IFA and client inquiries and coordinate timely resolution of policy, claims, and commission-related matters.
  10. Recruit, onboard, and activate new IFAs in line with business development objectives.
  11. Drive conversion and activation of IFAs to increase the placement of corporate General Insurance business.
  12. Execute market and IFA-specific business development initiatives to achieve assigned premium and growth objectives.
  13. Conduct General Insurance product and process training for IFAs and submit training schedules and reports as required.
  14. Promote authorized incentive schemes and other approved initiatives to drive new business and strengthen IFA engagement.
  15. Develop strategic relationships with key IFAs to increase business support, market penetration, and portfolio growth.
  16. Monitor market developments, competitor activity, and IFA trends, sharing relevant market intelligence with the supervisor.
  17. Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and other business performance reports as required.
  18. Work closely with Underwriting, Claims, Finance, Branches, and other relevant functions to facilitate seamless service delivery and achievement of business objectives.
  19. Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Finance, Marketing, or a relevant business-related field.
  2. Professional qualification in Insurance such as ACII, IIK, or an equivalent recognized insurance qualification.
  3. 2–4 years of relevant experience in the insurance industry, preferably in General Insurance sales, business development, or intermediary relationship management.
  4. Strong understanding of General Insurance products, coverage, exclusions, policy terms, and market practices.
  5. Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining productive relationships with IFAs to grow and retain business.
  6. Strong application of sales and business development techniques to identify opportunities and achieve premium targets.
  7. Proficiency in managing assigned corporate business, driving portfolio growth, and maintaining strong retention levels.
  8. Sound application of risk assessment principles and underwriting guidelines within delegated authority.
  9. Effective negotiation and influencing skills to engage IFAs and clients and convert business opportunities.
