Job Description

The Dentist at Avenue Healthcare is responsible for providing comprehensive and high-quality oral health care and dental services. This involves utilizing the latest techniques and equipment to ensure patients receive the best possible treatment, all while strictly adhering to the company's established policies and procedures. The role encompasses both emergency and non-emergency dental procedures, patient counseling on oral hygiene, and the diagnosis and treatment of general oral diseases. Additionally, the dentist will educate the public on preventive dental care and manage dental implant cases from diagnosis to long-term follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Perform both emergency and non-emergency dental procedures.
  2. Counsel patients on oral hygiene and demonstrate proper techniques.
  3. Examine, diagnose, and treat general oral diseases.
  4. Educate patients and the public on preventive dental care and oral health.
  5. Accurately record all care provided in the electronic health record system, including patient conditions and treatments, and complete necessary referrals and data collection instruments.
  6. Diagnose, treat, and provide long-term follow-up for dental implant cases.
  7. Develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients with complex dental conditions, including surgical and specialized treatments.
  8. Collaborate with consultants on specialized cases, ensuring appropriate referrals and follow-up.
  9. Operate dental equipment and tools safely and efficiently, ensuring proper maintenance and sterilization.
  10. Supervise dental auxiliary staff, ensuring correct application of techniques and methods, and updating them on new practices.
  11. Review and develop patient care policies and procedures to establish best practice guidelines.
  12. Maintain thorough knowledge of all Avenue policies, procedures, and systems.
  13. Perform any other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor in line with the job description.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree.
  2. Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners & Dentists Council.
  3. At least two years of post-internship experience in general dentistry and dental implants.
  4. Clinical experience in Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine.
  5. Advanced training in ACLS/ATLS.
  6. Demonstrated attention to detail.
  7. Strong results orientation.
  8. Empathetic approach to patient care.
