2027 Internship Program – Session 1

Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. It comprises 81 member states, including 54 in Africa.

The African Development Bank, a leading pan-African development institution founded in 1964, is offering its 2027 Internship Program as part of its wider Talent Management Framework. This program supports the Bank's Ten-Year Strategy (2023-2032), which focuses on key areas such as unlocking capital, reforming Africa’s financial architecture, fostering economic growth, and building climate-resilient infrastructure. The internship aims to provide students with valuable professional and practical experience within the Bank's diverse operations. It also serves to build a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment, although immediate employment after the internship is not guaranteed. Participants are selected through a competitive process based on the Bank's specific business needs. Internships will last between three and six months, authorized only once per candidate, and can be performed either remotely or on-site depending on the hiring unit's requirements. Remote interns must have their own computer, reliable internet, and a suitable working environment, while on-site interns are responsible for their travel and upkeep. The Bank will assist with visas and provide medical insurance coverage and a monthly stipend to eligible interns.

1. Be a national of an African Development Bank member country.
2. Be aged between the age of majority in your country and 30 years old at the internship start.
3. Be currently enrolled in a master’s level degree program at a recognized higher education institution, or have obtained such a degree within the last year.
4. Provide a letter from your school confirming enrollment or a copy of your master's degree.
5. Be fluent in at least one of the Bank’s working languages (English or French).
6. Possess proficiency in standard software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access); knowledge of SAP is desirable.
7. Fields of study include: Agriculture, Human Capital, Engineering, Investment, Operations Management & Programming, Sustainability, Procurement, Delivery & Performance Monitoring, Risk Management, Finance, Capacity Development, Governance, Natural Resource and Knowledge Management, Economics, Statistics and Data Management, Human Resources Management, Information Management Technology, Real Estate Management and Services, Translation and Interpretation, Communication, Legal, Corporate Governance & Advisory Functions, or other fields relevant to the Bank’s operations.
