Job Description
The Business Development Officer, reporting to the Branch Manager, is tasked with expanding the bank's market presence. This includes actively promoting SMEP's products and services, onboarding new clients in compliance with KYC regulations, and segmenting the market to target various groups, individuals (MSMEs), and institutions for business expansion. The officer is responsible for increasing the loan portfolio, deposits, and transactional income through effective marketing and utilization of alternative channels. A key aspect of the role is undertaking responsible credit underwriting, managing the portfolio within the bank's quality thresholds, and ensuring adherence to both internal and external policy and regulatory requirements. The position also involves implementing audit recommendations, conducting customer training on SMEP policies and basic business skills, and preparing timely reports. Maintaining proper customer records in line with data privacy guidelines and fostering customer retention through excellent service and stakeholder management are also crucial. Furthermore, the officer is expected to contribute to product development and service enhancement by gathering market intelligence and customer feedback.
Key Responsibilities
- Market the bank's products and services.
- Expand market share by onboarding new customers in line with KYC requirements.
- Segment the market into groups, individuals (MSMEs), and Churches/institutions for business growth.
- Grow the loan portfolio, deposits, and transactional income through marketing products, services, and alternative channels.
- Undertake responsible credit underwriting for all customers, adhering to the Bank’s Credit policy and procedures.
- Manage and maintain the portfolio within the quality threshold of the Bank’s Credit policy and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with both internal and external policy and regulatory requirements.
- Implement Audit recommendations to align with the Bank’s operating policies and procedures.
- Undertake customer training programs on SMEP policies, procedures, and basic business skills.
- Prepare and submit timely daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as per the Bank’s requirements.
- Ensure proper record management for all customers in line with the Bank’s Data Privacy and Protection policy.
- Ensure customer retention through excellent customer service and stakeholder management.
- Generate innovative product development and service enhancement through market intelligence from customer feedback.
Requirements
- Must be a practicing Christian who lives and upholds Christian Values, with a passion to serve.
- Hold an undergraduate Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business-related courses from a recognized institution.
- Knowledge in sales and marketing, credit risk management, and credit lending is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in the microfinance or banking sector is an advantage.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements.
- Possess good interpersonal and communication skills with excellent customer service.
- Proficiency in computers is mandatory.
- Be a passionate and self-driven team player.
