Senior Product Manager (AI-Native)

Umba is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the entire product lifecycle for financial technology products, from initial discovery to launch and subsequent metric tracking. This role involves working across existing and new product lines, collaborating with senior leadership on strategic initiatives. This is a unique, AI-native product management position where the team leverages tools like Claude Code, Claude Design, and Codex for specification, prototyping, and shipping. The Senior PM will be responsible for crafting product and technical specifications executable by AI agents, managing end-to-end delivery, directly contributing small code changes when efficient, coordinating various stakeholders to transform products into successful businesses, and ultimately owning the generated outcomes, all while maintaining high quality and rapid pace.

1. Own the product roadmap across various product lines, including credit, lending, savings, deposits, payments, foreign exchange, and new product development.
2. Conduct direct customer discovery with target segments such as individual borrowers, savers, SMEs, business operators, and freelancers.
3. Evaluate opportunities, instrument funnels, and validate hypotheses using production data without relying on analysts.
4. Make and defend prioritization decisions across diverse product lines, such as credit policy adjustments, new payment corridors, or deposit campaigns, using data-driven insights.
5. Monitor competitor activities in operational markets and translate them into product decisions.
6. Write precise, unambiguous, and testable product and technical specifications for engineers and AI coding agents.
7. Utilize Claude Design for prototyping to validate concepts before committing engineering resources.
8. Implement and ship small pull requests directly using Claude Code when it expedites delivery, demonstrating a hands-on approach to the codebase.
9. Drive end-to-end delivery, managing scope, timelines, and quality.
10. Manage delivery processes within Linear, the product and project management platform.
11. Lead the engineering cadence, including standups, sprint reviews, unblocking issues, bug triage, and trade-off discussions.
12. Coordinate effectively with diverse stakeholders including leadership, Engineering, Data, Credit, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Marketing.
13. Align scope, ship dates, and trade-offs across teams with potentially differing incentives.
14. Take ownership of outcomes rather than just output, linking every initiative to a measurable revenue, growth, or risk metric, tracking it post-launch, and iterating until the metric improves.
15. Review AI-generated implementations, prototypes, and analyses for accuracy, edge cases, and business relevance.
16. Establish and compress feedback loops encompassing customer signals, specifications, AI-assisted builds, metrics, and subsequent specifications.
17. Manage launch communications and internal enablement processes.

1. Possess 5+ years of experience in product management.
2. Have direct experience in shipping consumer or SME products within fintech, banking, lending, or payments sectors.
3. Demonstrate a proven track record of owning outcomes, measured by metrics such as revenue, active users, default rates, or deposit growth, rather than just planned or shipped items.
4. Exhibit strong stakeholder coordination skills, driving alignment across cross-functional teams effectively.
5. Possess strong written communication abilities, capable of writing technical specifications that require no further clarification from senior engineers.
6. Be comfortable with reading production data independently, with SQL fluency or a willingness to acquire it rapidly.
7. Show demonstrated proficiency with AI tools like Claude Code, Claude Design, and Codex in daily workflows, having shipped real work with them.
8. Be comfortable reading and writing code sufficiently to ship small pull requests using Claude Code.
9. Display high agency, moving from problem identification to validated solution and shipped product proactively.
10. Be capable of interpreting financial regulatory guidance in operational markets and translating it into product requirements.
11. *Highly Preferred:* Experience with credit products, including origination, scoring, and collections, and deposit products, such as rate strategy, treasury, and funding.
12. *Highly Preferred:* Exposure to foreign exchange, cross-border payments, stablecoins, or virtual account infrastructure.
13. *Highly Preferred:* Experience collaborating with engineering teams that utilize AI coding agents in production workflows.
14. *Highly Preferred:* Previous work experience in emerging markets, particularly in Africa, Southeast Asia, or Latin America fintech.
