Job Description

The Business Development Officer for Retail Medical, reporting to the Manager, is responsible for driving the expansion of the retail medical insurance sector. This involves actively acquiring new clients, ensuring the retention of existing ones, and cultivating robust relationships with various intermediaries. The role is crucial for facilitating sales conversions, offering essential technical support, and maintaining high standards of service for both customers and business partners. Ultimately, this position plays a direct role in generating revenue and expanding the company's market presence within the medical insurance landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Generate and issue medical examination letters as required.
  2. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with intermediaries and various distribution channels.
  3. Prepare and diligently follow up on quotations to successfully convert potential business.
  4. Regularly update the sales pipeline and monitor performance metrics.
  5. Recruit new intermediaries to actively expand the portfolio.
  6. Conduct market intelligence research and gather feedback on products.
  7. Perform follow-ups and send reminders for policy renewals.
  8. Provide technical support through organized meetings and presentations.
  9. Deliver product knowledge training to intermediaries.
  10. Ensure compliance with licensing and contracting procedures for intermediaries.
  11. Respond promptly to inquiries from customers and intermediaries.
  12. Process and raise refunds for eligible customers.
  13. Resolve service-related issues concerning scope, premiums, and commissions.
  14. Prepare and issue cover confirmation letters.
  15. Execute any other duties assigned by the Manager.
  16. Ensure accurate debiting and crediting of proposals.
  17. Prepare and dispatch policy notes, schedules, and utilization reports.
  18. Process and dispatch membership cards to clients.
  19. Initiate policy cancellations due to non-payment.
  20. Maintain accurate and organized membership records.
  21. Keep client correspondence files current and well-maintained.
  22. Safely store all business correspondence and administrative data.
  23. Compile weekly and monthly retail reports.
  24. Prepare necessary travel letters.
  25. Issue decline letters when appropriate.
  26. Resolve claims issues efficiently within a five-day timeframe.

Requirements

  1. Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a Business-related field or Actuarial Science.
  2. Possess professional insurance qualifications (an added advantage).
  3. Have 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience.
  4. Demonstrate strong communication abilities.
  5. Exhibit a customer-focused approach.
  6. Possess sound business acumen.
  7. Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  8. High level of emotional intelligence.
