Job Description
This role involves overseeing financial records, ensuring compliance with reporting standards, and supporting various financial operations for CIC Pharmacy Insurance Limited. Key aspects include the preparation of financial statements, reconciliation of accounts, and management of both accounts payable and receivable. The accountant will also be responsible for maintaining the general ledger, evaluating internal controls, and acting as a key user for the organization's management information systems. Additionally, the position requires identifying opportunities for cost optimization, supervising finance operations at pharmacy branches, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting activities for both capital expenditure and operating expenses, as well as sales.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete financial records.
- Ensure proper classification, coding, and documentation of all transactions to the correct general ledger accounts and cost centers.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports in line with financial reporting standards.
- Maintain the asset register and confirm its alignment with company accounts and policies.
- Provide support to internal and annual audit processes by supplying relevant schedules, listings, and reconciliations as needed.
- Act as the MIS Champion for current and newly implemented systems within the organization.
- Identify areas for cost optimization within the business.
- Supervise finance operations at pharmacy branches.
- Contribute to Capex and Operating expenses budgeting and forecasting.
- Participate in sales budgeting and forecasting.
- Manage accounts payable, including vendor management, invoice processing, vendor reconciliations, statements, and generation of ageing reports.
- Oversee inventory management and stock control.
- Conduct scheduled stock takes and prepare relevant reports.
- Ensure prompt receipting and allocation of customer payments.
- Prepare daily bank and Mpesa reconciliations and daily cash control reports.
- Identify and support automation initiatives to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field.
- Be progressing in professional qualifications such as CPA or ACCA.
- Possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
