Job Description
The Sacco Credit Relationship Officer is tasked with expanding and managing the institution's credit portfolio. This involves building strong relationships with members and customers, identifying their financial needs, evaluating credit applications, and ensuring the timely distribution and repayment of loans. The role requires adherence to the institution's credit policies, regulatory standards, and approved risk management protocols to maintain a high-quality and profitable loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and monitor credit application files to ensure timely completion.
- Gather and analyze financial statements and other relevant documents from customers or prospects.
- Prepare and evaluate credit facility applications in line with the Sacco’s Credit Policy, agreed pricing, and service-level timelines.
- Identify opportunities to promote and sell other Sacco products and services.
- Ensure full compliance with the Sacco’s Credit Policy and established credit procedures.
- Manage and oversee the assigned loan portfolio.
- Assess customers' financial requirements and ensure consistency between requested and proposed credit facilities.
- Maintain customer retention and regularly update prospect and customer databases.
- Identify opportunities to meet customer needs and cross-sell relevant Sacco products and services.
- Address customer complaints and ensure their resolution within approved Service Level Agreements.
- Conduct scheduled customer calls to strengthen relationships and improve service.
- Maintain and update customer file schedules, including KYC information, call reports, maturities, security documentation, insurance, interest rates, and loan arrears.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and implement effective Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) controls.
- Maintain accurate and complete credit and customer records.
- Adhere strictly to the Sacco’s Code of Ethics in all customer interactions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Commerce, or a related field.
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in credit, business development, customer relationship management, or a similar role, ideally within a Sacco, banking, or financial services environment.
- Proven experience in credit appraisal, loan portfolio management, and handling customer inquiries and requests.
- Solid understanding of prudential guidelines, KYC principles, and applicable credit and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, communication, and customer relationship management skills.
- Excellent team-building abilities and capacity to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Resilient, confident, self-motivated, and results-oriented individual.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality, and commitment to customer service.
