Job Description
The Business Acquisition Specialist is responsible for driving new business sales targets through all available channels. This involves working closely with administrators, brokers, independent and tied agencies, as well as direct clients. The specialist will build strong relationships and provide timely support to facilitate business growth. The role reports to a Business Acquisition Specialist and is based in Nairobi.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand client needs and recommend suitable products to the sales team to identify business acquisition opportunities.
- Ensure effective and efficient service delivery within the Group Life team to maintain customer satisfaction and retention.
- Provide technical support to Group Life & Pension Schemes distribution channels to boost business acquisitions and meet organizational growth objectives.
- Assist agents and intermediaries in preparing tender documents, ensuring alignment with tender requirements.
- Facilitate the smooth onboarding process for new business, including documentation.
- Implement the credit control policy for Group Life Schemes to ensure timely revenue collection.
- Improve risk exposure to enhance shareholder value within established limits.
- Maintain and foster effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide relevant and accurate management information to stakeholders to support business growth.
- Focus on all lines of business (Brokers, Agents, Direct, Affinity) by providing competitive quotes.
- Gather market intelligence, issue quotes, ensure competitiveness, and follow up with prospects for closure.
- Conduct member education and product training for intermediaries, prospects, and existing clients.
- Organize reward programs and bonding sessions to strengthen relationships.
- Enhance cross-selling opportunities among GLA clients and achieve organic growth within the existing GLA portfolio.
- Analyze and update contracts related to group risk schemes, including reviewing treaties, recommending amendments/endorsements, and assessing their impact on the business.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in insurance, actuarial science, or a business-related field.
- Professional qualification in Insurance (ACII or AIIK).
- At least 2 years of experience in life insurance or a similar reputable organization.
- In-depth understanding of insurance operations and concepts.
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of business acquisition processes.
- Knowledge of underwriting and claims procedures.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Adherence to principles and values.
- Ability to deliver results and meet customer expectations.
