Job Description
The Trade Finance Officer at Gulf African Bank is tasked with driving the growth and performance of the bank's trade finance portfolio. This involves proactively seeking out new business opportunities, collaborating with various branches across the bank's network to expand the trade finance client base, and continuously monitoring the portfolio's progress through regular reporting. The role also encompasses developing and executing strategic marketing initiatives, both internally and externally, to enhance the bank's brand as a preferred trade finance partner and ensure its product propositions remain competitive. Furthermore, the officer will manage and expand relationships with existing trade finance clients, cultivate new partnerships to ensure business growth, and advise clients on appropriate trade finance solutions in line with the bank’s credit policy. Ensuring full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and the bank’s internal policies and procedures, including Central Bank of Kenya guidelines and the Banking Act, is also a critical aspect of this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Onboard new trade finance clients for the bank.
- Collaborate with branches across the bank’s network to increase Trade finance business.
- Produce and maintain continuous progress reports on the growth of the Trade Finance portfolio.
- Undertake marketing initiatives with internal and external stakeholders to grow the Trade finance customer base.
- Increase utilization and uptake of Trade finance products by existing customers.
- Effectively manage and expand relationships with existing Trade finance clients and bring in new partnerships to ensure business growth.
- Advise clients on appropriate Trade Finance solutions as per the bank’s credit policy.
- Oversee the assigned Trade finance portfolio and adhere to the bank’s acceptable PAR (Portfolio at Risk).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and the Bank’s internal policies and procedures.
- Lead Trade Finance sales and business development efforts.
- Complete business opportunities and monitor activities in line with the Bank’s strategic and annual business plans.
- Adopt a focused relationship management approach to increase business flow to the Trade Finance department.
- Ensure full compliance with the Bank’s Credit Policy, Central Bank of Kenya guidelines, and relevant Banking Act provisions regarding lending.
- Enhance relationship marketing and management with customers and partners to achieve mutual objectives.
- Build the GAB Brand to position the bank as a preferred Trade finance partner.
- Regularly update the Bank’s product proposition to ensure competitiveness.
- Support other business teams in organizing and participating in Trade Finance events and forums.
Requirements
- Must possess a business-related degree with a second-class honor or equivalent.
- Must have 2 years of work experience in Sales, Business Development, Relationship Management, or Product Development within a financial services environment.
- Must have experience and knowledge in Trade Finance.
